It was formed on 20 February 1942 from the 2nd Fortification Brigade, with the task to maintain the order in Trans-Dnestra in the Ocheakov, Berezovka and Marieka areas. It was disbanded in May 1943 and its troops were used to fill in the ranks of the 15th Infantry Division, which had suffered heavy casualties at Stalingrad.
