On 22 June 1941, the brigade had 193 officers, 131 NCOs and 5,002 soldiers. They were equipped with 3,901 rifles, 113 ZB-30 LMGs, 16 HMGs, 12 mortars and 16 artillery pieces. For transportation it had 4,942 horses, 364 horse-drawn carts and 45 motorized vehicles.

By the end of August 1941, the brigade’s total losses (KIA, WIA and MIA) amounted to 108 officers, 44 NCOs and 2,751 soldiers.

On 15 March 1942, it was reorganized and transformed into the 9th Cavalry Division.
