Did the Romanian army repaint their helmets this color during WWII? It is clear the helmet has been repainted but does anyone know of this color being used?

Congrats on the helmet. They are scarce. I looked for quite a while before getting one. Yes, green is the correct color, although I have seen later issue ( after the fall of the Netherlands) that did not have the crest and were almost black. Garry Owen!

Actually I returned the helmet. The badge was not real. It wasn't even metal. It was resin or Bakelite. Too bad. My search will have to continue! :x

At this point I'd consider trading almost any of my German helmets for a real one!

Peter, I'm sorry to hear that. Do you think that it was a Dutch helmet that was being passed off as Romanian, since Dutch helmets are green as well ? Garry Owen!

It is very possible it was just a Dutch helmet. But it looked like it was period repainted green, now I'm not sure which period! smile.gif

But seriously it was repainted and the badge was glued on. The thing is from the photos it looked perfect but the badge cracked in the mail and that was a giveaway. I think I'll have to be very careful because if someone could have made a resin or Bakelite badge than it is likely that they can make a fake metal badge.
