Friendly fire was not uncommon. Reportedly, even Slt. rez. av. IDC shot at a German He 111 in 1941, causing 40% damage.
Germans shot in error at Rumanian airplanes, too. The most notable victim vas Adj. stag. rez. av. Tiberiu Vinca, one of the top Rumanian fighter aces.

I watched that movie too several times. I remeber the Bombardier being pissed off about clouds and his target not being visible and saying "Let's lust drop the bombs... The Pilot (a wiser guy) replying that "we can't, there is school down there and children will die.... and then the bombardier:
"Who cares, there ALL Nazis!!"..., :blbl:

finally the clouds cleared, the target became visible and the bombs were dropped...more or less on target near that school (or on it)...who cares..
[Who cares about the Nazi children.... In World War II anything is permitted"] Right?

On purpose? I doubt it. An Italian wrote the first book on how to use mass bombardments of the Civilian poppulation, and it was the British who first carried out a raid on Germany,..and not the other way around.

A few hours ago I visited Gen Dobran, who like usual was in good moode and friendly.
We looked in his photo album, and I saw 3 pilots around a grave marked by a cross.
When I asked who is the victim,Dobran smiled sadly, and told me the following story:
There was a law during the war, that the corps of the dead soldiers cannot be brought back to Romania, and have to be burried at sight.
A fellow pilot was killed. In the crash only a handfull of budy parts were left. The casualty was an single child to his parents,so a few other pilots made a fake funeral, and burried a car batery. The remains of the pilot were send by secret to his family in a shoes box and were burried in secret in his villge.

C-2, did he mention the name of the pilot and the date? If you don't want to make it public, can you give at least his initials? wink.gif
