Aerostation I Flotilla

On 30 September 1934 at the headquarters of the Aerostation I Flotilla (Flotila 1 Aerostatie), the Pantelimon Fort, was baptized the first dilatable balloon built at the flotilla plant. The name given was “Capitan Aerostier Vitzu Mihail” in memory of the aerostier who had the most famous activity during the WWI.
Since the WWI up to 1934 the Romanian aerostation used the Caquot type R balloon, with constant volume, which was also built in Romania since 1924.

The information is taken from the Aeronautica 1934 magazine (the picture is similar), the article is written by C-dor. N.G. Manolescu the Commander of this flotilla, at that moment.

Vitzu was the first and the only balloonist who received Michael the Brave Order during ww1

Thanks for this info! Searching on the net for Vitzu Mihail, I found that Demostene Rally also received Michael the Brave Order cls. III (during ww1).

No, AFAIK, D Rally was only recommended, but don't received MV Order
