Hi there

I am from Slovak republic. I have a house in a mountain village in south Slovakia during the war Romanian army with Soviets and slovak partizans were fighting there against nazis.
I must look to book for corect date and I will post it later.
Next to our house is one ruined house which we are demolishing now.

I found there a torzo of VZ 24 rifle with romanian crest and markings and many other things from war like german gass mask, bayonet case....

But most interesting is this piece of canvas or what the hell is it. It is in bad condition.
It think that it could be tent plate or some sort of square canvas. I search on internet but I dont find anithing only Italian zelthbanh that looks like it.
Was romanian army using italian equipment ?

There is name Cojocaru and C-tin 1936 written on that flaps in the middle. Somebody told me that it is typical romanian name.

And there is remain of some marking stamp. I am not sure about the upper line but second line looks like D.M.I.S

I now that it is in bad condition but I washed it and it looks better now I want to preserve it as memory of that man Cojocaru doesnt mater whoever it was.

Could somebody tell me what was that canvas for and which country made it ?

Here are the pics :

Can you post more photos of that tent sheet, especially the part in the center and details of the buttons and sewing?

@freeman: Thank you if you can take some close-ups it would be great. I reenact the Romanian army in WWII and I would like to have the details for a replica to use in reenactments.

Off-Topic: Last weekend I was in Slovakia and participated at the Stary Tekov reenactment, the event was extraordinary, best WWII event I have ever seen or participated. http://6dorobanti.ro/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1311066995/0#0

@NCW and Denes:
Please find another topic to post ethnic, political, economical and political-historical ... I'm totally not interested in them.

QUOTE (dragos @ August 03, 2011 06:26 pm)
Please avoid derailing to ethnic issues.

Admin (and Mihnea), it is not the ethnic joke that is condemnable, but the public incitement to murder based on the ethnicity of a group of people, issued by "Freeman" (Marek). This is an unprecedented occurrence on this long lasting and decent forum.
I don't believe sweeping this public threat under the carpet is the solution to this serious problem.

Gen. Dénes

The question is was it made in italy and used by romanian army or made in romany ?
And that year 1936 is interesting too

freeman,

Since you are new to the forum, please take a look at the forum rules (http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showtopic=27).
You are welcomed to discuss this topic, but a similar nervous outburst to the one deleted by Dragos, will lead to direct banning.
