ARR re-equipment plan- August 1944

Hi everyone,

Was reading thru mr. Denes's work, and also remembered reading in an old Modelism, about plans to replace all the twin engined bombers in ARR with Fw-190Fs, replace Ju-87D with Ju-87G in the dive bomber groups, and re-equip/create new Hs-129B groups ( including with Hs-129B-3s, aparently -although from what i can read around , only 25 were built).
Also earlier plans called for all fighter groups to be re-equiped with Bf-109G ( both germans and built at IAR).

Any other additional info by any chance ? What would the new Fw-190 group be called " fighter bombers " or "assault" groups? What was the timescale of these plans ( as in when were they suposed to be completed). What other groups/squadrons were intended to be created ( besides the 11th assault group)?

Anything new would be much apreciated.

From the war memories of the veteran Gen.av.rz.(+) Dragomir Constantin :

To the mid.1944 it was taken the decision to replace the Stukas of the 3rd and 6th bombing groups with FW 190.
For the trainings and for the transition to the new planes, they were selected 4 good and experienced pilots : Lt.av. Dragomir Constantin, Slt.av. Popovici Dumitru, Slt.av. Simionovici Ioan and Adj.sef av. Rosman Constantin and leader Cpt.Cdor. Oprisan Mihai. Together with the german major von Stein, they went to Prossnitz, Mahren (Prostejov, Moravia).
Lessons and trainings began on Arado 219, for the basic maneuvers.
On July 31st 1944, the Black Wednesday, durring an american strike, 17 young german pilots on FW 190 were killed here.
Then they started the first flights on FW. The planes were allready brought for us.
But it came Aug.23rd…and the germans said Halt ! Because the romanians refused to fight with the germans, they were sent as POWs, for the first in the camp of Wurtzen, Saxonia. Then, in the romanian officiers went to the camp of Wustrau, Neuruppin but Adj.sef to Kaisersteinbruch (Au).

There was no such thing as Arado 219. The number 219 was assigned to Heinkel and Heinkel 219 was a nightfighter.
It is posible that the training aircraft referred here may be Arado 96.

Can you be more secific on the 16 FW-190's pilots lost at Reghin ? do you
know their names ? The history books of the 52nd FG I've red such
as the American Beagle Squadron and 52nd FG history Spitfire and Yellow
Tail Mustangs are conflicting. They cite 16 FW-190 lost some on the air and
some on the ground. I have also some memoires of few pilots who flew
to Reghin from Lesina,they tell an other story too.

A Recon P-38 which should have shot high altitude photos never
reached Rumania, therefore there were no recon photos.
What is the full name of von Stein ? Finally I am sure you
are aware regarding the Arado error ,must have been a typo

Sorry, I don'n know nothing about FW190 activity...
The posted text is just a short translation from a veterans memory book, me one I don't know any persons ( and any Arado ) ...

@yugit , are you talking about the attak on reghin of 31th august 1944 ?

The date is clearly mentioned in the memoirs: "On July 31st 1944, the Black Wednesday".
The USAAF ground attack against the airfield of Mocsár, near Szászrégen (in Rumanian Mociar and Reghin), happened on 31 August 1944.

I was talking about Reghin...Aug 31, 44 ...mistakenly I thought
that the subject in question was about August.

Only ten fw 190 were lost that day ,I can give you the loses and claims if you want .

If the losses are related to Reghin , would appreciate them with
