Rommel's Romanian Award ?

Soldat Group: Members Posts: 7 Member No.: 3070 Joined: June 07, 2011	I read in some different sources that Generalfeldmarschall was awarded by Romany during WW : - Rumän. Orden “Michael der Tapfere” III Klasse: 12.07.1944 - Rumän. Orden “Michael der Tapfere” II Klasse: 12.07.1944 Does anyone know why and when exactly ? What does such medal represented ? The date given here is just before he's heavily wounded in Normandy by Allied Spitfires (17.07.1944). Thanks a lot for your help, CM

Admin Group: Admin Posts: 4350 Member No.: 3 Joined: February 11, 2003	The Michael the Brave Order was/is the highest military order of the Romanian State. Rommel received it as a political gesture most likely (just like Goering, for example). I could not find the motivation in the decree awarding it.

OK, "Alexei2012", I believe you. I have to check what was the name of the regiment where Rommel was lieutenant in World War One in Romania.
I was too lazy to check it in the moment I wrote those words.

No "Brandenburg Regiment"... they weren't "invented" until WW2, and not even under that name at the beginning.
