Nah, it's too much! Anyone could realise that if it was any truth in it, there would have been a "wave" of executions, another purge of some sort! I guess that's just a late-late theory meant to explain Stalin's inactivity in the few days after 22.06.1941, other than Suvorov's "depression", for example!

The chance to read the study made by this Vladimir Meşcereakov could enlighten us.
However, "MMM" has a good point: I am not aware of a wave of executions in July ... August 1941, and that would be certain in case of a poisoning attempt against Stalin.
Just remember Hitler after July 20, 1944: about 5000 high rank Germans got executed until April 1945.

Oh, there were high-ranking executions in USSR, but all linked with supposed cowardice and all the executed were with the frontline, not with the STAVKA.
