The man that sold me this photos had info that A. Basarabescu being in Brasov, caras Severin...and other places, also western side of the country. You have some info? cool.gif

I might have some info, I am not sure. That second picture, with the officer next to the cross monument - I recall seeing the exact same picture (or nearly identical) in one of my family albums. I'll dig it out when I have time - I have to look through hundreds of war-time phots.

Also, my grandfather's name was Basarabescu and he was from a traditional career officer family going back to at least 1877 through 1945 (cavalry and artillery). But it's not such an uncommon name, this may be a different, unrelated Basarabescu.

Can anyone identify what military branch the dress uniform in the first picture belongs to? Thanks.

As far as I know he wears a M1934 gala uniform, his collar patch stands for ofițer de stat major.

@mabadesc, did you consider to publish an album with your very important family war-time photos or make them public in some way? I think the photos are very important for our national history and its a pity if they remain unknown to the public. Thanks!

- the only romanian binoculars i had with fog/sun lenses
- optics in good condition, it formes one field sight.
- used condtition
- marking on reticular, for targeting.
