Reghin

That particular airfield (actually a large, flat pasture nearby the town, called Mocsár) was known between 1940-1945 at Szászrégen. In German documents you will find it as Sächsisches Regen.

Are you familiar with my article published on the raid of this airfield by 15th AAF Mustangs on the 31st of August 1944?

Finally, the proper spelling of the other airfield is Târgsorul Nou (located near Ploiesti).

Dear Gen.Denes

Thank you and indeed I am aware about your
report on the 52nd FG straffing mission at Reghin
but also through a wide variety of reports such
An AMERICAN BEAGLE SQD and other books.

That is why I asked on WWII photos of this rather
hidden airfield of the Germans for my research. As
historian you may perhaps help me to obtain some
photos. Additionally I would like to know.......

1. From waht date to what date were Hartmann, Lipfert
Rudel and Fonnenkold stationed overthere?

2. Coordinates of that airfield ( google map) at Budak ?

3. Is there a general aviation landing strip in there today ?

What AAR and Luftwaffe (Staffelkapitaene) and units were
based at Turgusorul between 1943-1944 ? and what retreating
Luftwaffe units were based at Budak in Aug 1944 ,who was the
CO of that airfield in 1944 and to which Hungarian airfield they
retreated to?

After Soviet penetration was Budak operated by Russians/ Rumanians
air forces or abandoned?

Thank you in advance

You remember wrong, or you weren't told the truth, Dr. Napoleon. biggrin.gif

I wrote that article with the assistance of a young fellow, and Medin published it unaltered (although he had some issues with the map).

I'm 100% sure about what I wrote.
You heard about this article from me on the Aeromagazin topic on the forum.
I recived the aeromagazin personaly from MEdin a few days before it was put to sell.
Medin told me that he was inspired greatly from you.
It was long ago but I have a good mem.
I didn't felt then that you were unpleased by his act.
