I suppose you all know about the airbase south of Campia Turzii, and just west of Luna village, home of the 71st Flotilla equipped with MiG-21 Lancer, IAR-330 Puma L/M/SOCAT.

Is it in the same location as the Campia Turzii airfield used in WW2 ?

What was the history of its units, planes based there before and during WW2?

All I know is this:
I saw in the booklet about ARR published by Aeromagazin a photo of a LOS.37b damaged at landing on CT airfield on 27 August 1940; somewhere else a mention about training planes destroyed there by German raids in late August - early September 1944, as well as the fact that the 2nd and 9th Fighter Groups were briefly based there, after Balomir and before Someseni-Cluj during the Western campaign in autumn 1944

The current airbase, in the period 1952-1960 housed the 167th Assault Regiment - part of the 68th Assault Division, equipped with Il-10. Since 1987 it is home for MiG-21s.
