question 1:

What is Romania aiming for (or has to gain) by being part of NATO?

question 2:

What incentive or gift could the Russians possibly give Romania that would make her quit the NATO alliance right away ?

question 3:

(If YES ~ referring to the above), can Romania even pull out willingly [out of NATO] like a sovereign country that it "is"...or would there be severe consequences if it does?

1. Help with its defense, because Romania is too weak to defend its self!

2. How about Pak Fa's, Mil-28's, T-90's, BMP-3's and S-400 sams?

3. Of course Romania could leave NATO if it wished, but it is too weak to defend its self!

Romania will not leave NATO because is the will of the Romanian people to be part of this alliance (you can see all the polls). And is the will of Romanians to be part of NATO, because they trust more in Western powers.
It is an historian fact, all the time, in our history, we looks to the west, not to the east. The only period when we were part of an eastern alliance, like the Warsaw Pact, it was against the people will. It is the fact, it is the truth, and period.

Hallo Anton88,
My answers:
1. National Security assured by the clause from the articles 5 and 6 of the Washington Treaty, which refers to collective defense and the zone of responsibility of the Alliance.
2. none, from Russia none!
3. not appropriate to ask ourselves the question!
