Multumesc! Can you tell me which ones?
I looked on Google Earth and there seem to be objects which could be the remains of the two Grivita redoubts, two redoubts north of Kashin, and maybe Ibrahim Tabiya. I plan to go there in the Spring, and I want to make sure I see what there is to see. |

You should ask forum member "Mihnea" I think he was there as he can tell you, or forum member "Sturmpionier" from the forum of www.6dorobanti.ro . Sturmpionier can for sure tell you more details.

I was at Plevna last Saturday. There's really not much remaining of the redoubts. I've attached a picture of a marker at the Grivitsa-1 redoubt, but the area is so overgrown that it's impossible to get an impression of it. Grivitsa-2 is even harder to see. It's next to a large Russian obelisk just off the shoulder of the highway, but, again, the area is completely overgrown. You can easily see both locations on Google Earth, by the way.
Maybe in the winter it's easier to see since all of the leaves will be off the trees and bushes. Not the thorns though.... Uploaded with ImageShack.us This post has been edited by GaryD on June 29, 2010 05:24 pm |
