I LOVE theRomanian pilots badge!!
Does anyone know where I can purchase one?
It doesn't have to be an original A replica would be fine!
Thanks everyone!

Take a look from time to time on eBay. Mihai has spotted this nice set some time ago.

The auction has indeed ended several months ago, but it is a proof that pilot badges do appear on eBay.

Try http://www.emedals.ca/catalog.asp?country=RO

They have 7 different airforce badges.

Peace!

Genuine or fake?

I suspect that this badge is a fake.
1- notice the extra ridge line to the upper right wing edge. Denotes cast.
2- notice closely to the silver body of the badge. Pitting or scale texture. Denotes cast again.
3- hand painted enamel center shield. Not baked on enamel.
I have also noticed that some of these badges, made of silver, have been buffed out with compound and polished to remove pitting and scale texture so that they would be more difficult to detect that they are cast pieces. A few of these pieces are making it out onto ebay and selling for the same price as the originals.

Thanks for the reply. Your details are quite useful to distinguish whether a certain piece is a variation of the genuine thing or just a fake.
