I want to star a topic with photos of the Romanian Pilot Helmet's from the WW2 period.I have seen that there were a few model's .

does anyone have in the collection a ww2 pilot helmet? i'm courious of the modells used by the romanian army.

The helmet worn by Cantacuzino in that photo is not a standard helmet and it is most likely a privately-ordered item.

During the war, a lot of the pilots were supplied with German equipment.
The types of helmets used were:
LKp S101 - summer helmet. This was made of fabric and lined with fabric, German catalog number LN26617,
LKp W101 - winter helmet. This was made of leather and lined with fleece, German catalog number LN26618,
LKp N101 - summer net helmet. The top of this helmet was a net and the headband and the headphone area was made of leather, German catalog number LN26670,
All of these were actually complete radio headsets with headphones and throat microphones (laringophones) and were mostly manufactured by Siemens.

They were also fitted with a number of German glasses:
Fliegerschutzbrille Model 295 made by Nitsche and Guenther. These came with interchangeable lenses, ranging from from clear to sun protection.
Windschutzbrille Model 295 made by Auer. These had a rubber gasket all around the lens.
Fliegerschutzbrille Model 306 made by O.W.Wagner and Co.

They used a number of oxygen masks such as:
Model 10-69 (when made by Draegerwerke, this was called Hm51)
Model 10-67
Model 10-6701
Model 10-6702

All of these were spotted in many photographs and identified with the help of the excellent book "Luftwaffe vs RAF, Flying Clothing of the Air War, 1939-45" by Mick J. Prodger. A quick Google search will show what these items looked like.
