Does anyone know the history of Carol II of Romania's flight back to Romania, which took place on June 6th 1930? Was his route Munchen (rented plane?), Vienna, Vadu Crisului (fuel tank loss?, Mudura/Modura story), Cluj (Someseni, military plane switch?), Bucuresti (Baneasa airport)?
What was the plane he flew from Munchen to Someseni? And Grupul II Aviatie (2nd Aviation Group) from Cluj made Carol II switch the rented plane to a military one, whose pilot was Cpt. Nicolae Opris. What was that plane?
They say Carol II started his jurney early in the morning (June 6th) and landed to Baneasa at 22:05 (the same day).

Small info: "It seems that the peasant woman Modura is the woman that, on June 7th 1930, brought water to Carol to drink. That day Carol unexpectedly entered the country and, heading to Cluj-Napoca [sic!], landed with his airplane at Vadul Crişului, near Oradea, due to the lack of fuel."

A possible answer may be found here: Valeriu Avram, Aviaţia şi Restauraţia, Magazin Istoric, XLIV, 1(514), ianuarie 2010.

Mr Denes Bernad, I'm very honored by your answer. I'm very grateful for your 'Romanian Aces of World War 2'.
Your info was very inspiring, but it'll be quite difficult for me to find that particular Magazinul Istoric. Anyway, apart from cpt. Nicolae Opris, I find that another pilot, Gheorghe Negrescu, was involved in Carol II's return.
I will continue my research on this particular day, June 6th 1930. All available info will be posted on my blog at: http://beta4good.blogspot.com/

Carol's first plane was indeed rented, a Farman, but came from Paris not Munchen. He was taken from Vadu Crisului to Cluj by a Potez 25, and from there on to Bucharest by the same type, escorted by two additional Potez 25s.

Apart from the article in "Magazin Istoric" mentioned by Denes, there is more data in an article about Potez 25, also written by Valeriu Avram, in "Modelism" magazine no. 2/1998 (61)

If you can't get a hold of them, let me know via PM and I'll scan the relevant parts and e-mail them to you. I suppose you can read Romanian?

Does anybody know if the Farman was a Gnome-Rhône 5Ba (Titan)-engined F.190?
