Hello,
I am looking for any information on Col. Stefan Stefanescu, commander of the 23rd Infantry Brigade during WW I, decorated with the Legion d'Honneur on 6 July 1917. I am particularly interested to learn of the actions which led to his decoration. Therefore, any actions of the 23rd Infantry Brigade during WW I would be of equal interest. Pointers to sources in the Internet, archives etc. would be welcome as well. Many thanks Pipo |

According to
Alexandru Ioanitiu, Razboiul Romaniei: 1916-1918, 2 volumes an annex, Tipografia Geniului, Bucharest Stefanscu commanded the 16th Infantry Division from January to May 1918. Rich |

In 1919 war, 16th Infantery division was part of the Northern Group of forces (Gen Mihaescu), and was under comand of gen. Hanzu Alexandru.
