Romania captured and used two servicable Soviet fighters in 1941: I-16 type 29 (July 1941) and MiG-3 (Dec 41?). Both aircraft were flying, and repainted in the colors of the Romanian Air Force and had made several flights. Because of their status for sure on the MiG-3 was flown to the Romanian by Soviet pilot (he was Ukrainian nationality?). 1. What are the units came from both the Soviet planes? 2. Are there known the names of both Soviet pilots? 3. In the case of I-16 there was no escaping the Soviet pilot to the Romanians? I am not sure but I think so. Yours, MirekW |
