This show is a 1-day show in Fairfax, Virginia near Washington DC. It's run by an organization called Northern Virginia Modelers.

This year's theme was "Spooky", but there didn't seem to be too many models with that theme -- a few monster figures and that was about it. Mostly it was aircraft from WW2 and later, heavy on Germany (of course) and USA but also other countries and subjects.

There were prizes in different divisions (12 years and under, 13-17 years, adult) and different subjects (Figures, Heads, WW2 aircraft, Post-WW2 aircraft, Humor, etc.).

We arrived late, so we didn't have that much time, but it was enough to see all that I was interested in.

A diorama showing a scene from 1945. An US Army scout car capturing a Me-262 on the ground, under a camouflage net.

This model is of an Eritrean T-55 tank from the Ethiopan-Eritrean border war in 2000. There was a nice description of how worn out the tank was, and the touches in the model that showed this. For example, the 100mm main gun had worn out and been replaced with one from another tank, hence the mismatched camouflage. Also both sides often just smeared mud on their tanks rather than paint them in camouflage.

This was a nice large model of a Panther.

A Heinkel He-219 "Uhu" Night Fighter, with the radar antenna nicely displayed. Moving this model must be a real pain, those antenna don't look very rugged.

Here's a Savoia-Marchetti SM-79 medium bomber in Italian colors. As many of us know, Romania used this type too.

This diorama is from Napoleon's invasion of Russia. There was some interesting accompanying text that talked about the history, but didn't say much about the model.

There was also a booth from a group that only models warships. Sorry, but I didn't catch the name of this -- it was late in the day and people were packing up.
