Hello,

Can somebody tell me where I can find pictures or drawings of T34 tanks in Romanian service?

I'm interested in colors, markins, conversions to Romanian wishes etc.
Actually anything you need to make a model T34 Romanian or look like Romanian.

Hello Maiortitulescu,

Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately this is the same info that I already have.
It looks like that this is all there is... sad.gif
I have been told that the Romanian army used the Russian T34/76 during the war and the T34/85 from the war untill the late 60's but I could not find more than that one picture of some kind of technical tank...

Romania did not use T-34s in operational units during WWII

Are you sure Victor?

I have been told by a modelshop owner, not Machete the other one in Bucharest, that the Romanians used them in the last year of the war....
There were units with only Russian equipment and units with only German equipment because the Russians did not allow Russian equipment to be used together/alongside with german equipment...

I also have been told that the tanks in the national military museum are not accurate...
So how is this with the t34 from this museum?

And what other stories told you the modelshop owner? Probably that one with the romanian pilot flying the Me 262 in romanian colors and convinced you to buy the Me262 as a bonus near T-34 kit biggrin.gif

The truth is that romanians captured many T-34 but they used only as propaganda pictures , movies and for evaluation of romanian weaponery (ingluding AT guns and Vanator de tancuri)

For the T-34 used after the war the pictures are very rare.
I remember that in 1989 in one tank school orasul Roman( village) was one T-34 in the field used for training.

Hello Cantacuzino,

Ahum.... yes i know i was a bit silly.... wink.gif

But also maybe a bit more...
I also bought the 1/35 CMK Tacam kit from him and he told me that i could use the miniart 1/35 kit 35010 "German tank crew at work with it because the Romanians had the same uniforms...
It sounded convincing because i know the Romanians used german equipment...
I now think that i made a mistake by buying that kit...

But maybe you can tell me if the pictures of the tank in the museum are accurate...

Of course I am sure.
Both claims, the T-34 one and the one about German/Soviet equipment not being used in the same units are false. There are good sources on the Romanian Army in WW2 available in English, which you can consult, instead of taking as granted stories from salesmen who are most likely in search of a nice profit.

Hello Victor,

Please don't be angry...

Since i'm Dutch and new to Romanian army i hear see a lot of stories and i don't know what is good or not....
I just started this year's september to collect model kits to make a nice collection of Romanian army models and i'm still in research and collecting...
I must say that not all shop owners are just looking for nice profits and telling fake stories... I have been to Machete in Bucharest and the people there gave me good advise and even told me to put back some models that i wanted to buy because they where not used by the romanians... So i can say i think that alex ( olaf the viking in this forum ) and his staff at Machete are good people...

But Victor if you can help me to some good book titles or sites i would be very pleased...
There is not much known about the Romanian Army overhere...

I have some books already from osprey vanguard and one called Reluctant axis ...

The markings of T-34 (from the National museum) must be ok.
I believe that was made using original picture from the museum archiv.
I know that other museum tanks (R-35, P-IV, Tacam, Renault Ft 17, Skoda R2) markings are made using b&w pictures from archiv.
