Bottom side Left badge I believe is a German award.

Possibly the The Tank Battle Badge / Panzerkampfabzeichen.

Does anyone know or have photos of the regimental jetton worn from the pocket button ? A regimental guidion flag with unit insignia in center. I would be interested to know from which unit this officer is from. Judging by the cavalry butons on the shoulder boards, the light colored colar patches and the regimental unit citation Aquilette cords, perhaps he is from the 10th Mechanized Cavalry Regiment ? Only a guess.

On the back of the foto is written - Ploiesti - 27 March 1944. Just another small clue.

Cheers,

Al

PS - does anyone agrees upon the Silver PAB worn by this Romanian tanker guy ?

It looks like both the 5th and 8th Cavalry Regiments had units in Ploiesti in 1944 as part of the The Motomechanised Troops Command. The Motomechanised Corps.
Photo dated in 1944 tells me that the German badge he is wearing was short lived on his uniform.

By the way, I too have this same photo. I will need to check and see what is written on the back of my photo.
