I visited Wikipedia, being led there by an article, which listed it as source.

I see, but what if I quote an original document, found in the archives? Or, better, what if I quote myself?

You have quite a few publications and the publishers under which i saw some of your works published, do qualify as reputable, therefore i wouldn't see why you shouldn't quote yourself.
