Any idea what type of airplane is this? A French type I suspect.

Thanks for the confirmation, Denes.
Any info on the "Grup 3 Aviatori" in 1925? Was it permanently stationed in Dobrogea or was it just on joint arms field manoeuvers with the 10th Infantry Divison in October 1925? (see original caption on photo). |

Here is the photo of an 'Italian' airplane coming German soldier's album, I cannot readily identfy. It should not too hard to be ID'd (I already have an idea), but I am too tired tonight (after 13 hours at work) to do some more research. Anyone?

It could be one of the three Savoia Marchetti SM.83s acquired by LARES in 1938: YR-SAC, YR-SAD, and YR-SAE.

There were five Savoia SM 83 in romanian service: YR-FAR (No. 34002 ) used by Air and Navy Ministry - returned to Italy ( I-AVTA) YR-SAC ( No. 34006) used by LARES, transfered to No.1 Bomb Group -returned to Italy (I-ATTA) YR-SAD (No. 34007) used by LARES, transfered to No.1 Bomb Group YR- SAE ( No.34008) used by LARES, transfered to No.1 Bomb Group - returned to Italy (I-MITU) YR- SAK ( No. 3400?) returned to Italy Indeed in the posted picture should be one of the 3 SM 83 ( YR-SAC, YR-SAD, YR-SAE) transfered from LARES to No1 Bomb Group wearing axis markings (see the yellow strip on fuselage) This post has been edited by Cantacuzino on May 02, 2008 11:42 am |
