A famous expression from VI century, "torna, torna, fratre" represents the first written testimony of protoromanian language spoken in Balkan areal.

Here can be found (in romanian laguage) a very well documented article written by professor N. Saramandu http://www.ear.ro/3brevist/rv8/art14.pdf

This is most interesting. What is the first extensive use of the written ancient Romanian language?
As for the use of protoItalian words we have already a VERY early example in the so-called Appendix Probi (III century AD) containing a series of corrections by a literate man of the age of 'Italianized' words which probably sounded 'barbaric' to his ears and deviating from the correct use of proper Latin language.
The Appendix reads:
["It should be written*...CALIDA non CALDA, COLUMNA, non COLONNA, SPECULUM, non SPECLUM, AURIS non ORICLA...and so on...It must be noted that "colonna", "calda" and other words mentioned in the Appendix are still in use nowadays in modern Italian speech.
It's fascinating to see how present languages were developing already before the collpase of the ancient civilization.

The romanian researches of how romanian evolved from latin to romanian are still going on.

Probably the first romanian professional work about the evolution latin-common latin-protoromanian-romanian language, covering the dacian and foreign influences, was made by prof. acad. Marius Sala from Bucharest (Romanian Academy, Linguistic Insitute "Iorgu Iordan-Al. Rosetti", who issued a book called "From latin to romanian" ISBN 973-9243-94-0, IInd edition, 2006. This respectable professor also wrote a book comparing the evolution of romanic languages from Europe since antiquity to our days.
