Hello Forum Members,

I have a few questions about how my uncles got into the German Army as citizens of Romania. Where they drafted? If yes, then into which Army - Romanian or German? If they voluntered - would they have voluntered into the German Army.

I never got a clear picture about this and often wondered. I think most of them fought on the Eastern front in Stalingrad.

Maybe your answers will help explain why they could not get permission to enter th US after the war. My mother never explained any of this in any detail.

All three uncles were from a small village named Hamlesch and have passed on many years ago.

Many thanks
Bob
