Various sources state that 81s could carry a 100 lt. drop tank under fuselage instead of a bomb.
Where these tanks actually used in combat, are there photos? Thanks. |

IAR 81 were also provided with device for carry two 100lt drop tanks under wings (not fuselage) but they were not used in combat. |

Despite reading about tests, I haven't seen a single real photo of an I.A.R. 80/81 with drop tanks.

They could be fitted on variants which had bomb racks underwing. This were designed for 50 kg bombs, thats way the drop tanks could be filled only with 50 L, couldn`t suport more weight.
