On this link one can find an extremely well documented monography about Halmagiu, Arad county, Romania, a very important administrative center in XVIII century of Tara Motilor.
It was a very important settlement for austrians, it has military garison and important administrative personalities. http://www.darnick.com/halmagiu/istorie.html See also http://www.darnick.com/halmagiu/tinutul_halmagiului.html for Traian Mager's book about Tara Motilor and Halmagiu. The book was published in 1935. It is a very rare edition, on this link one can find electronic version (copyrighted by the owner of the site). A very good historical document-based study by profesor V. Tigu, art historian, from Arad, about Zarand shire. Scroll down the page to read it. Abstract The study entitled The Zarand County- a county eliminated in the year 1876, written by Viorel Gh. Tigu, art historian, presents the historical importance of a county that has been preserved as the most Romanian administrative- territorial unit beyond the mountains being suppose to become a new administrative unit in the West of the Apuseni Mountains. http://www.darnick.com/halmagiu/documente2.html |
