I had presumed it was a walking-out baton, similar to the kind used in Imperial and Nazi Germany. A walking-out baton or 'Interimsab' (interim-staff) was a kind of casual Marshals Baton which was used on less formal occasions ie for day to day use.

It came from the collection of Kaiser Wilhelm II, although its background remains unknown and a bit of mystery. It resembles the Interimstabs given to the Kaiser by Bulgaria and Austria(althought they were his wartime allies).

One of the other forum users has speculated that its a riding crop rather than military item which is a fair guess. Any ideas about its origin or other pics of similar items?
