Yes. How accuracy.
When and how get this pictures ? Everything is green.
In both side of runway I see the place (?) for lights. When I was there "in foot" I don't see. Hope to check soon.

An interesting detail. Under second (from left) "bretela" intersection there are six holes. Place for AA, I seen. But after last right "bretela"(to Silistea) I see seven little holes, one in middle, six in round.
Possible second AA location ?

Thanks.

Yes, the 6 emplacements in a rounded shape are a typical AAA site for an S-60 (57 mm) battery. You can see 1-3 of them around almost every airport/airbase in Romania - just check on Google Earth.
The circle is around 60 meters in diameter, it had 6 guns and in the middle there was the fire control unit / radar.

Note also that on the taxiway parallel to the runway there are 30 small parking spots, indicting that the base was home to a full regiment with 30 aircraft

In past, R.A.R.(registrul auto roman) have some interest for this airport for auto test, and ask-it for transfer to M.T (ministerul transporturilor/MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTS)

Corect.
The railway who turn almost 180 gr. is for store, warehouse. The building is in place, is good, is kept in good condition, and can seen in picture.

The parallel railway, i'm not sure. I think, one is railway and other is road. In my pictures I have a photo whit this road. Alongside the road, still, there are the valve for charge the truk with gasoline for airplanes.
Even today, here, can feel the smell of airplane gasoline.

In the joint point, railway and road there are an open basin (see photo) for water for fire situation.

Detalied view of old railway conection, part of "aerodrom militar Silistea Gumesti"..
I hope to see with my eye in short time..
I found a short road to Bucharest (~120Km), alternative to Balaci-Pitesti-Bucharest (~180km) and is almost good. And is close to airbase.

1. Try Bucuresti-Alexandria-Rosiorii de Vede (at and Rosiorii d V. turn right)- Scrioastea-Dobrotesti-Balaci (right)-(Silistea). You find a big rust gate. From here, straight to taxi runway and history of, I think, second AB with concret runway in Ro. Road to Rosiori is very good and fast, after......asphalt second class. But deserve the effort.
2. Photo is very, very good. Because, I see a lot of details invisible at place.
Is possible, in a few pictures like last one to cover entire AB ?
3. In NE of runway at 1 km (?) some people told me, was the amunition store. Can you detect?
4. Beetwin end/out Rosiorii de V, in far left side you can see, the old AB Rosiori (IAR80). Now, sanatorium. There are some tree, watter tower (visible from distance) and two new building. From a month ago I try to make some pictures to old houses. Need " special approuvment" (??) unsure.gif

4. Finnaly, a good trip. Enjoy.

I will try to make all area in good resolution, but will take some time..
My grandparent is form Tecuci at 10km of airport and all my trip to Tecuci is to Buc-Pitesti-Balaci-tecuci or Buc-Alexandria-Rosiori-Balaci-Tecuci.. and never past to airport, just railway station or manastirea (500 meter form airport.. but never see the airport..
But now i find a short route .. Bucuresti-Bolintin-Crevedia Mare-Roata de jos-Poeni-Scurtu Mare-Tatarasti de jos si sus-Silistea Gumesti-Balaci.
Give me some coordonate to AB Rosiori..?

I think, Bucuresti-Alexandria-Rosioriind. V.-Balaci.....is better. But it's your choice.
Is't important. To get there is important.

I make a general views of romanian old jet AB:
-Bobocu=live
-Bacau=live
-Alexeni= ??
-Ianca=preservation ??
-Baraganu=ok
-Titu=?.............made ?
-Balaci=abandoned ONLY ONE REALY OPEN
-Deveselu=preservation ??
-Caransebes=civil

Everyone can add better information. Is ok !

For AB Rosiorii d. V. like I sed, if you come from Alex. and pass the entrance trafficator after 2-3 km. you see in right side the chimney (1-2) from beer factory.
Exactly in left side, over a valey there are a lot of tree. Is the lonely trees in left area. And two new building (in construction). Also, you meet an cross road. Turn left.
From this crossroad to the exit trafficator from Rosiorii d. V. remain 1 km.

Tomorow I try to give geografic coordonate. In earth google the image have low resolution. But.......

By the way, I have a topic with AB Rosiori. In june 2008 I was there and I make some photo. Next week I hope to put on this photo.

Yes.
Area with tree, is old base (buildings).
The way in right-down side is ending with a little green areea, like a garden. There is fuel tanks (aprox 8 pc), of course ex-railway and two ex building.

In pictures, I try to find the place for hangars and two runway.
Earth eat the traces..........

I hope, in this year to find some foto in Rosiori with this location. I need luck.
