HELLO !
I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFO; WAS THERE AN AIRPORT LOCATED NEAR CHITILA DURING WW2? MY GRANDPARENTS LIVED THERE, AND AS A KID I REMEMBER DRIVING BY A BIG PEACH TREE ORCHARD. SOMEBODY TOLD ME THAT USED TO BE AN AIRPORT BEFORE.

Recently I acquired an original photo made by a German soldier, showing several Ju 52s on a plain field, with no buildings visible, marked on the verso: 'Chitilla, 1941'. So the name was still in use at the beginning of the war on East.
