If you click on Conflict Map and place the cursor over Eastern Europe you will see the 1907 peasant revolts in Romania listed as civil war:

There were at least 2000 dead, the Army was involved, it spread geographically. They do have reasons to call it a civil war.

"the Army was involved"

Army against civilians = civil war? Looks too simple explanation for me. So what is it uprising then?

Can you be more specific about the opposite forces ? - we talk about a war here, don t you ?

Probably it s more correct to talk about large scale of riot acts, instigated by russian agents.

The 1907 event is considered intra-state war in the correlates of war database too.

Strange! After this logic between 16.12.89 – 22.12.89 in Romania was civil war. blink.gif The army fought against the civilians and there where some 150 victims. It also spread geographically.
Very strange. laugh.gif

Hi AGC

Just 150? I think that would be too little to qualify it as civil war.

Bottomline is that both the Nobel Prize site and the Correlates of War consider the 1907 event a civil war. And they noted the lowest number of victims - around 2000. There are writers that place the number at above 10.000. So my opinion is that the 2 sites are not wrong, despite our surprise.
