Queen Mary...sorry, at that time she was only Princess ! She seems to wear the Grand Cross from the Stanislaw Order and the Grand Cross from the Crown Order This post has been edited by b737 on March 30, 2007 08:32 am |

I think she is actually wearing the Russian Order of St Catherine!
As the daughter of a Grand Duchess, and grandaughter of a Tsar - Alexander II - she would have been given the Order as a courtesy. She would not merit the Order of St Stanislaw, despite her rank. The Order of St Catherine was the only Russian Order for Ladies only. It was given to Grand Duchesses of the Blood, the wives of Russian Grand Dukes, and foreign female Royalty. She can be seen wearing the Order of St Catherine in various photos at the time of Nicholas II's Coronation! This post has been edited by Darth_Ameraudur on April 25, 2007 12:31 pm |
