After the World War 2 could have stayed one romanian pilot in the Czechoslovakia. But in the end of fifty he tragically died during the car accident. According his son´s memories he could had been a mechanic at first and than he could have been a pilot in the Second World War. He could have achieved some victories reputedly. He could have been shot down in the eastern front. He flew with Bf 109.
His name: Alexandru Focioru, born at 1919 His son could have owned some documents, including photos and medals and he will be very happy get to know some closer infos about his fates… if I manage to obtain some dokuments, I like publish them on the forum. |

Frenk,
I just talked with Ion Dobran. He has all the names of the 109 pilots in Gr 7/9 who flew 109's. 400 names. No one by this name exists. And he never heard this name. He may invented the whole story or he was some other pilot but not on a 109 that's sure. |

I also haven't heard of this name.
He might have been an airman, even a pilot, who occasionally flew the '109, but I am certain he did not have air victories, as he alleges. It would be interesting to find out more about his career in ARR. Gen. Dénes |

I managed to get a photo of A. Focioru. Unfortunately I don’t understand Romanian text on the reverse of the photograph. Could anyone translate this text into English, please?
According to his son’s recollections, he had been an airplane mechanic, later he should get through airplane (allegedly fighter) training and as a pilot he took part in fighting action against USSR. During one mission he was shot down and spent some time in a prisoner-of-war camp. After the events in August 1944 he should take part as a pilot in fights against Germans. ![]() ![]() |

The most important information from this photo is that the guys name is in fact Fecioru, not Focioru. I can't read all the words, but the general ideea of the caption is: "Keep this photo as a memory, ... and do no forget that I ... do not have anything more dear and more sweet but you" A.C.Fecioru. The letter is adressed to a Miss Maria Tauteanu,(obviously his sweetheart) in Barsanesti. The photo is from 1939.
Hope this helps. |
