Soldat Group: Members Posts: 28 Member No.: 47 Joined: July 18, 2003	Hi, Could anyone tell me whether the onetime commander of Divizia 1 Garda, colonel Constantin Popescu was promoted to General de Brigada before the end of the war in 1945. Soldat Group: Members Posts: 28 Member No.: 47 Joined: July 18, 2003	According to: Armata Romana in al dolilea razboi mondial 1941-1945 / ed. by Alesandru Dutu, Florica Dobre & Leonida Loghin. Bucuresti, 1999, p. 156. Colonel Constantin Popescu served as commander of the Guard division for two short periods 23rd Feb. to 10th Apr. 1943 and again 20th Dec. 1943 to 6th Jan. 1944. Whether other generals (Sova, Voiculescu & Korne) nominal were in command for those periods the book doesn’t say. Are the book wrong? Kind Regards Steen Ammentorp The Generals of World War II

Sorry, I take that back. There is a 5 month gap in the list, so he could have been the CO of the Guard Division.

Jun. 1944 – 12th Jul. 1944: General Stefan Opris 12th Jul. 1944 – 14th Oct. 1944: General Petre Antonescu 4th Nov. 1944 – 20th Mar. 1945: General Ioan Dumitriu 20th Mar. 1945 – 3rd Apr. 1945: General Gheorghe Marinescu 3rd Apr. 1945 – 27th Aug. 1945: General Ioan Dumitriu * Korne was also in command of the 8th Cavalry Division during this period.
