Sorry, it seems we are again in disagreement. If you meant your negative expectations (as in your introductory paragrpah) are related to me, all I have to say is I am in general short on time and would not waste it just to convince someone I'm right. By number and by content my messages speak for themselves, and no matter how hard you'd search, you'll not find any messages written by me to the effect of your introductory paragraph. For what it may matter or not, I did not have similar expectations at all.

I have no doubt you wouldn't know a lot about the Bf109 as you mentioned. Not from the History perspective, but from the flying one I think the details you provided are not correct. One can read a lot and acquire knowledge on History and if one does that as a systematically study he may then become one day a historian. To understand flying, one can not go with readings and hearings no matter how deep.

None of us flew that airplane. However, I have to say I have a certain involvement with airplanes and their universe, taildraggers included. From this perspective I made my initial contribution to this thread and later on the statement that your explanations can't stand. Not for the Bf109, nor for another airplane.

You however made another comment on what you perceive as another inaccuracy of mine. I can say I'm not quite sure to what you are referring to. You quoted "raise the tail". I tried to locate in my message(s) where I used this, to find the source of your objection. I used the search/ find function and could not locate anything like that in what I wrote. I tried then with "belly" and found that word in this paragraph written by me.

What I wrote there is not what you argue against (maybe you misunderstood), it simply means:
1. The pilot applies power.
2. If the pilot is not holding firmly the stick to his belly, the tail will lift off the ground and the prop may hit the ground.

Please note, the pilot does not want the tail to go up. However, applying power will cause the tail to go up. To keep the tail down and to avoid a prop strike, the pilot holds the stick back.

I'm not contesting the effect of the controls you mention, but the point in discussion was different, it was the effect of applying power on the tail and what is the pilot counter-action.

Finally, one point where it seems we share an agreement, namely to terminate this discussion . I'd summarize this as, to each their own.
