We are now preparing the new events for the next year. In 2007 we will commemorate the 130th anniversary of the Independence War of 1877-78 and the 90th anniversary of the WW1 battles on the southern moldavian front (summer 1917). So all the shows will tackle with these events:

on Friday,18th of May 2007 – our reenacting groups (6th Dorobantzes and 4th Artillery) together with the Bulgarian reenactors (about 30 persons) equipped with 1877 uniforms will participate at the opening of city of Ploiesti yearly festival (18th-20th of May). The event will start with a commemorative ceremony in the presence of Ploiesti authorities and public. Then the Grand Duke Nicholas will handle the Samara flag to the Bulgarian volunteers units. The first battalions of Bulgarian volunteers were set up in Ploiesti, in 1877, and they will commemorate the 130 years from that event. The “troops” will fire a honour volley (also with the small bronze gun). Then the “troops”, heaving in front a military band and the Grand Duke Nicholas in a carriage, will march through the main streets of Ploiesti to the house in which General Nikolai Stoletov’s headquarters were located and to the Romanian Rifles (Vanatori) Monument , near the Southern Railroad Station In both places commemorative ceremonies, wreaths depositions and honour fire volleys are planed. In the evening, the “troops” will return to their camp with firing torches.
A comradeship party , with beer and traditional sausages will end the day.
The rifles will be provided by the Military Museum of Bucharest. It seems that a military camp, with big military tents (similar to those of Mogosoaia) will be raised for the reenactors, in a park, near the city center of Ploiesti

on Saturday/Sunday, 19th/20th of May 2007 will be held the Military Museum “Open Gates”. This will be a multi-period show: 1877-78 (on Saturday) and WW1 (on Sunday).
In the morning of Saturday, 19th of May, after breakfast, the Romanian and Bulgarian reenactors, dressed in 1877 uniforms, will come from the Ploiesti camp and will participate at the first day show of the Military Museum “Open Gates” (between 10.00 - 14.00). The Romanian and Bulgarian reenactors will make some drills and fire demonstrations. In the evening, the Bulgarian friends will leave for their homes.
Next day, Sunday, 20th of May, only the Romanian reenactors will participate, dressed in WW1 uniforms in order to recreate the Great War atmosphere in the museum courtyard.

on Saturday, 11th of August 2007 – will be a WW1 reconstruction show in the city of Brad, 30 kms north from the city of Deva, in Western Carpathians. On that location, with the help of an Austrian investor (Georg Kocevar), who is a great steam locomotives enthusiast, and local authorities, we will reenact a WW1 battle, in the center of the city, near the old railroad station (with a late 19th century architecture). We will also use a WW1 style military train. The steam locomotive and covered wagons will have in front and at the rear flat wagons equipped with sand bags and machineguns. The train will transport Entente troops (Romanian, Russians). The train will stop in the front of the railroad station and will storm the Central Powers troops (Austro-Hungarians, Germans, Bulgarians). The battle will be not a reconstruction of some particularly battle but only a demonstrative “confrontation” between Allied and Central Powers forces, fallowed, as usually, by a reconciliation commemorative moment in front of the city center monument. As for Mogosoaia show we will use blank ammo and a lot of pyrotechnical effects.

on Saturday, 8th of September 2007 – the reconstruction of the third assault of Plevna, during the Independence War of 1877-78 (30th of August/11th of September 1877). This will be held at Fort of Mogosoaia, near Bucharest, with the Bulgarians’ (and any other reenactors would come) help.

The first two projects are already fixed with local authorities and institutions, who accepted to pay the costs. For Fort Mogosoaia event we are still waiting for a decision of the new military unit commander who also supported us for the reconstruction of the Arges River battle.

AFAIK it's sure, that there will be reconstruction at Pleven next year. However it's too soon and the guy who is one of the organizators from "Traditzia" association doesn't know more datails.

Unfortunatelly, we'll be only spectators, even we'd like veeeeeery much to participate as reenactors.
In this moment, we have only a mixture of modern uniforms, from different armies.
The only original piece that we have is an romanian helmet from WW2.

My 1st Platoon is my circle of friends, reenactment fans; we served toghether in the army, in the...1st platoon biggrin.gif but this is already off-topic

As far as I know, Yes!

Next week, we hope to have a new meeting with the town of Brad authorities and the Austrian person who will provide the steam locomotive and the rolling stock. Then we'll know all the details of this project.

In October 2006, this reenactment group was in BUcharest. See: http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showtopic=3616

Unfortunately Zalau it's too far from Bucharest but I would like to see their demonstrations.

It's a pitty that there are not romanian reenacting groups to commemorate some Roman units in Dacia (V Macedonica or XIII Gemina).

Let's hope it will be next year at Brad...

Have a nice day!
