QUOTE (MMM @ March 17, 2009 07:50 pm)
Are there any other succesful confederate states? (except Russia, of course)

In Europe: Confederation Helvetique (CH).

It slipped my mind smile.gif Are there others, even outside Europe? Except giants such as China (which could/should be, except it's a confederation between communism and capitalism for now) or USA (IIRC, around 2060 it is estimated the white people will become minority, as less than 50% of total population)?

QUOTE (MMM @ March 17, 2009 01:50 pm)
Not only Yugoslavia, but also Czechoslovakia didn't survive on the long run. So far, only the Belgians have the last confederate state "viable", so to say... and they're tormenting as well! Are there any other succesful confederate states? (except Russia, of course)

Russia is a federation.

It is not democratic - and in the moment it would become really democratic, it would undoubtedly split into pieces!

To try an answer: it wouldn't have been any chance - if it happened, it would not have lasted, because of the differences existing which surpassed at any given point the resemblances between the Romanian people and the Bulgarian people!
Fortunately, it didn't happened!

The differences are not greater than, let's say, between Hungarians and Rumanians. Similarly, a possible joint kingdom was (I don't know how seriously) pondered between the two countries for a short while in the early 1920s.

Well, at least Romanians and Hungarians use the same alphabet. As for details, use http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showtopic=4908&hl=
