Colonel Group: Members Posts: 943 Member No.: 398 Joined: November 23, 2004	Hello I bought this canten from Brasov, I think it's german but I am not really shore. I have other german cantens but they are different, could it be romanian?

I have a picture made in WWII of all the types of canteens and mess tins used by the Romanian army in WWII and it is one of them but without the cover. How ever it is amazing what I see. I'm stunned.

I paid 30 lei for it and the seller told me that this is a german one, but he was wrong. I didn't sow on the market Romanian ww2 cantens only German ww2 cantens that are very expensive. So is it a good piece?

Capitan Group: Members Posts: 682 Member No.: 679 Joined: September 26, 2005	The price is very good, I think, I never seen one before, you are so lucky, bought a Yugoslavian one for 20 ron, but missing the hook and without a cloth cover. I’ve seen picture with Romanian soldiers using this type of canteen.

I sow once in Bucharest one for 30 Ron in very good condition, with cover nut I didn't buy it, I don't know why? Here in Constanta they are 20 - 30 Ron just like yours. The strap is identical (except the color and the small strap that holds the cap, it is replaceable while the German one isn’t) to the German one so it can be used on German canteens. Yesterday I received a canteen which I identified as a romanian canteen (the same as shown above). It's my first contact with romanian equipment (apart from romanian 7,92x57 mm ammunition) so I'm in need... My canteen was found in a river, where she probably spent 60 years. I can't find on its surface any markings (year of production, manufacturer?)and thats the point - could you enlight me, whether this canteens were marked or not? And if yes, where should I look for this markins? 60 years in a river, erosion might have smoothed it... It doesn,t have a cap, the paint is history... But for me it's a sort of treasure :] So... If anyone could help me - don't be ashamed, just do it! Kind regards from Poland Michael
