Even at his age he is still a leader in front of others.

Thanks Cantacuzino,
Those photos are fantastic. I always looked for an excuse to build another... Now I got one!
Of course, when I built mine, I did not have access to your photos.
And this leads me to the obvious question: Why do you "sit" on such photos? I would pay good money for a book or photo album displaying such photos! And there are many others like me out there.

What is the scale of your models ?

I'm making plane skins for the 109E4 and 109G2 in the Aces High flight sim.

Quick question though- if his Emil is "yellow 9", why do I see so many profiles with different numbers and several skins/digital paintings with "yellow 27"? Is that a later aircraft, or are they all working from incorrect information?

For example...

Only one I can find at the moment.

But both the Emil and Gustav had a 1/3 whit spinner? I have to change that on the Gustav then, I have it with the white tip like on the profile...

No. '38' was actually a G-2 flown by DiCesare in combat in the USSR during the Summer of 1943.
There is a series of photos taken with Slt. av. rez. DiCesare and his mount 'White 38' with several machine gun and cannon holes in the fuselage (see, for example, 'Rumanian Aces of WW2', published by Osprey, p. 30, bottom).
It is not known if the 'Hai fetito!' name was painted on the engine cowling or not.

Based on available information and photos, 'Yellow 9' was DiCesare's 'Emil' with the 'Hai fetito!' name painted on the engine cowling, along with the five white bars and his monogram under the cockpit.

All other versions are incorrect, until proven otherwise with photo evidence.

Corect spinner paint is 1/3 white and 3/4 black ( or dark green)

C-no, how do you know this frontal view shows '227'?

By looking closely on the photo Cantacuzino posted, I believe there are two distinct areas painted white: the spinner cone's tip (arrow 1 points to the enhanced demarcation line) and the 1/3rd of the spinner (arrow 2).

Opinions?

The spinner paint scheme and Werk nr. 14045 is wrong on this color profile.
Corect spinner paint is 1/3 white and 3/4 black ( or dark green)
Corect Werk nr is 14646.

I stand corrected. The Werknummer is indeed 14646. BTW, this particular aircraft was in repairs at ASAM-Pipera in Sept. 1944.

At the time when I first drew the colour scheme of this particular aircraft - back in 1991! - I didn't have either a good quality copy of the photo, or the list of ARR Bf 109G's Werknummern. I tried to do my best to read the Werknummer from the available photo, which proved to be incorrect.

At least I can say that I was the first one to research and publish the colour scheme of DiCesare's mount (drawn by hand with China ink on semi-transparent tracing paper, as computer drafting was inexistent back then!), drawing published first in a Hungarian aviation magazine, then in SAFO (USA). smile.gif

It's just an illusion because of the light . The black color lost the density in a summer shine day picture.
