Thanks for posting this profiles, Horia. If your friend had more, and he accept, please continue to post - i don't think anyone had something against that. Maybe more with romanian marks?

Alexkdl, Sorry to disappoint you, but you're talking of different aircraft. The floatplane drawn by Mr. Moldovan is the first prototype of the KOR-1, an aircraft designed for observation and recon operations from heavy vessels (and to be lauched from a catapult), roughly in the same category as the I.N.A.M. Ro-43, the Curtiss SOC-1 "Seagull" and the Nakajima E8N. An excellent - and recent - article on this little-known aircraft can be found in the magazine Aviatsiya i Vremya, No.4/2003, by Aleksandr Zablotskiy and Andrei Salnikov. On the other hand, the aircraft you mention is a Kocherigin DI-6 biplane, originally conceived as a two-seat fighter and later employed as a ground attack aircraft, fitted with underwing gondolas, each with two ShKAS machine guns. It had the distinction of being of the last operational biplanes with retractable undercarriage, like the Grumann F3F and the I-153. It was used operationally against the Japanese in the Khalkin Gol clash, in 1939. Cheers, Ruy P.S.: The profiles are very nice - I enjoyed very much the one depicting the I.A.R. CV-11. Thanks for letting us know the work of your friend, Horia. Just a small hint: the Spanish Fury u/c legs are too thin. The real things were more robust and the camouflage was more sparse. It even covered the wheels and the propeller! |

Ruy , thanks for the correction I am glad you gave me some details on this aircraft as I had wrong details and confused both aircrafts which looks quite alike.....particularly if was used on the Halkin Golf conflict the likelyhood that was seen on the ETO is very low .
Can you post any photos of this aircraft on floats, bellow an amphibious aircraft photo from Beriev design Bureau which seems to be the one or similar the one you mentioned, maybe you have some photos Alex This post has been edited by alexkdl on March 09, 2005 07:36 pm Attached Image ![]() |
