Right. My bad. Both the 37/39 and the 80 have similarly shaped tailplanes (albeit in a different size) and I didn't see the tip of the left top wing protruding in the picture.

Can someone tell me what type might be the airplane in the picture below
? The tail marking shows clearly that it's a romanian aircraft, but I don't know what type, where was the photo taken and who is Mr. Ohanian. ![]() Photo from Andrei Berinde collection |

It's an I.A.R. 38 (see the contours of the BMW radial engine).
The photo was taken most probably in 1940. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on April 08, 2006 11:02 pm |

romrail from where did you get this foto? I've seen this picture few mounts ago at a local trade meeting of cartofil lovers.

I've got the card from a local card dealer shop in Bucharest.

I've asked this question almost two years ago. The depicted wreck appears to be of an Italian Caproni Ca.313 transport, one of two such types used by the Reparto autonomo di volo cinematografico in Bessarabia. Can the date be pinned down? It must be sometimes in August 1941. Thanks, in advance. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on June 01, 2007 09:17 pm |

Hello Dénes,
You must mean Caproni Ca. 133 (a shoulder-winged, trimotor of rather archaic construction but quite robust), not Ca. 313 (a low winged, twin engined machine, used for recon and light bombing duties). The aircraft - or what is left of it... - depicted in the photo is, indeed, a Ca. 133. Cheers, Ruy |
