Földi Pál wrote dozens of military books, but he is very subjective, wrote a lot of hilarious mistakes, so his works not enough good to be sources.

Victor, you have right - everybody make mistekes; but IMHO a lot of researchers and historians make mistakes in a well documented topics also, so they are simply undemanding (like Földi).

Hello,

Does anyone have a picture of Horia Agarici that he could post on this forum? Also, I'd like to know more about him. The propaganda around him was unbelievable during the war (including a popular song). Was his fame due mainly to propaganda (i.e., was he a "poster-boy"), or was he indeed a good ace fighter?

Thanks.

Thanks for the link, Victor. That takes care of some info.

Now all I need is a picture of him. If you have one, could you please post it somewhere on the forum or just email it to me?
Or at least do you know of a book that contains a picture of him?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the pic, Maresal...

Yeah, both he and the plane look alright...

It seems like most war pilots have some common expressions on their face in pictures: very confident, fearless, glad to be enjoying life.

My guess is that they were all quite "successful" with the ladies...

In Bazu's written declaration for the confirmation of the kill, he specified that the red nose indicated a pilot with over 25 kills. This was the hear-say of the times, but it wasn't neccessarily true. Anyway, he specifies the fact that the Russian was very good.
