I just received a set of Romanian Soldiers; they were send from abroad by a good friend.

The box looks very nice with a very well drawn Romanian soldier.
However I don' t like that all the soldiers have the tent sheet rolled and put in diagonal, the officer is equipped with a Steyr m1912 pistol instead of the Beretta m34 and all have German type canteens and no mess tins. As for the quality I believe it is OK but the faces are a bit ugly at some of them; also the heavy machine gun an mortar are a bit crude, but it is a step forward.

Together with the Romanian soldier I photographed a French WWI soldier from Revell (of course at the same size, 1/72).

I would second the above post; I thought the Hat figures are some of the better plastic figures I have come across and was really pleased with the ones I bought. They seem to paint up well too, and provide plenty of useful poses. If you are interested in wargaming they are a good way of building an army inexpensively, it only costs about £7.00 for 90 figures!

Thanks for the photos of the russian"Izba",they do help!
The Pegasus kit is close enuff to the buildings in the photos but I would like too do
a little extra work to them to make them look better.
The pieces fit together well so I do not see any problem in that area.

The romanian infrantry kit from Hat as a whole is not that bad of a kit.
I have seen some really bad figure in 1/72 from another company who name I cannot recall and they were not molded that good.
Once I start working figures I am sure I will like them better.

Is that little building with the man standing in front of it the russian bath?
If so can you give a little information about how far it would be located from the main house?
I notice what look like a small pipe comming from the roof is this anything to do with the function of the bath house?
This would make a great scene in 1/35th scale!

Hi Guys,

It appears that the same company is going to produce a Romanian 75mm gun as well.

Hi Guys,

Sadly, it appears the 75mm gun will be an old French Schneider piece, not the Romanian Resita M43.

Cheers,

Sid.

I think the romanian figures are ok, although just a little bit small, 1/76 more than 1/72. They can be used with no problem because they really look romanian. If you want to ad some variety to the heavy weapons crews, buy a WW1 austrian heavy weapons set also from HAt and you can mingle them using the austrian cap as capela.

It looks very good and you can also make 81mm mortars for battalion units.

Anyway it's along overdue set and although there are minor innacuracies it's still very good. Besides a single box enables you to make a full 1942/45 infantry platoon at 52 men and still have a reserve for company or heavy weapons

Cheers
Mathias
