TAIFUN was yard No.1870 delivered 1938 for
Crown Prince Michael of Romania.
Listed as 54ft (yard history book) or 55ft (yard list)

Does anybody knows her fate ?

TAIFUN was a motor yacht.

TAIFUN was used during the war by the Seaplane Squadron in Mamaia-Siutghiol as a recover boat. It was in use till 1955.

I found in my papers a long forgotten fact in the story of TAIFUN. In 1956 the yacht tried to evade to the free world, running to Turkey. The Seaplanes Squadron, the Marina Granicereasc[ and even torpedo boats of the Navy tried to intercept her and forced a landing in southern Bulgarian waters, instead of Turkey. The navigation officer was cpt. Nicolae Ciurcu who was punished and send to Giurgiu on the Danube as civilian. In 1959, the fine plywood yacht was wrecked and given to Tulcea population as fire wood.
