"Romania va produce pusti de asalt dupa standardele NATO

Academia Tehnica Militara din Bucuresti si Uzina Mecanica Sadu au realizat, in cooperare, proiectul unei pusti de asalt perfect compatibila cu standardele NATO. Pusca are calibrul 5,56 m.m. (folosit inclusiv de Armata SUA), iar cartusele de acest calibru, standard NATO, sunt deja produse de industria romaneasca de aparare. Armata romana are inca in dotare arme automate de calibrele 7,62 m.m. sau 5,45 m.m., nici una nefiind calibru NATO. Noua pusca de asalt nu mai are nici o legatura cu vechiul pistol mitraliera Kalasnikov, din care s-au inspirat majoritatea modelelor de arme automate produse pana acum in ROmania. FInalizarea proiectului noii arme a durat trei ani.

Iamandi, when taking pictures this close, turn on the macro mode for the camera. Photos will be much clearer.

On topic. The subject seems very interesting and more details would be welcomed. I am curious how reliable the weapon is compared with the PA model 1984. But, anyway, it's always good to here that Romanian engineers are busy designing new things.

Iama,i hope the fact that you become older dont stop you to "resolve the problem"with that secretary tongue.gif .On topic now,i just hope that this new assault rifle dont be a cheap copy of M 16,because look a little like this .And i dont say here only about design, but about internal mecanism too,who is much important.Technical caracteristics, from what i read,is almost identical with older PA md 86 or PM md 63(AKM).And i know that our weapons industry produced an AK variant on 5,56mm calibre too(like russian AK 101).And AK is the most reliable weapon(especially the old 7,62x39mm).Ofcourse,we must conform with NATO standards, but i hope we keep the good things we have.

Very heavy! 4 kg without magazine! Where is the improvment?I can see the same AK 47 magazine catch sistem , wich is a weak point in the AK design.Of course , in the romanian unprofessional style, the picture is taken on the left side of the gun, so you can see nothing about the locking mechanism

Why is a weak point? And about a rechambered AK,there is a rechambered one,who look like a AK,i dont see why to make another one,who look diferend.I just hope to not look diferend inside too.

The general trend is to reduce the length of the weapon (SEE US Army adopting M4 in place of M16, or event test of XM-8), or creatin BullPup formats. And we came with 1 meter long rifle. I do think they should get all fired ... and just buy a licence of a good product...

I don't know. The weapon in the newspaperhas a scope and seems to be destined more for snipers, than for close combat situations. ROMARM is producing also a SMG.

Some light weapons, even civilians, are presented to Uzina Mecanica Cugir site www.arms.home.ro
I've called them and , beside others, they said that soon will be open a new assembly line for Glock pistols. There are any chances to Glock to become the new standard sidearm in Romanian Army? Any rumours?
