I'm also an avid player of Il2, although until now I've mostly been plagued by a slow net connection and sub-standard computer.
I finally decided to upgrade my machine after a fatal electicity spike left it in shambles, but unfortunately, when I tried to re-install the game on the new hard-drive, the cd-rom couldn't read the Aces CD, so I'm left to playing FB-PF. Anyway, here is the ilustrated chronicle of my last battle (about a month ago- with the exams and whatnot, I haven't played online since) Anyway, it was me against two frenchmen, and an american. The american was flying a Mig3 and was on my side but he got diconected, so I was all alone against two foes, both of them flying 109s. The battlefield was Crimeea, and we started off so far apart, that we roved around for a full half an hour before bumping into one another. Initially, I was flying a G2 in ARR markings:(yes, that really is me in the cockpit, and the graphics are set to "Low" to improve online performance)  In terms of strategy, one of those guys kept trying to engage me head-on, while his wingman was sneaking up on me from behind...   After o couple more mishaps, I thought that maybe it was time to change mount, so I got myself one of those new G14s everybody was talking about...  And, boy, does that Erla Haube make a difference! Yes, for fun and usually on the Ubi servers. But unfortunately, my net provider (C-zone) has just crashed, so my bandspeed plummeted from 1.4mb per second, to a lousy 0.02...  So until they get if fixed, I'm landlocked. |
