Bulgaria had Me109 (some 145 planes in "G" variant), Avia (Avia B-135B had 547 km/h, more than IAR 80/81), Dewoitine 520. How succesfull was Bulgaria in defence against USAAF?

On 30 march 1944 several Fighter School instructors managed to bring down a four-engine B-24 Liberator with their 7.92mm MG.Bulgarian planes dont have the 20mm canon. They were on Avia B.135B. (Nice aircraft. Its one of my favorites).

The D.520's had 20mm Hispano-Suiza HS 404, though.

Bulgarians had fighters based in ex- Iugoslavy teritory, or just had done pursuit after the USAAF bombers? Because i read about an event with "podporuchik" M.Grigorov, who shot down two Lightning over Skopie, in Macedonia on 21st octomber 1943.

Why romanian communists don't acted like bulgarians?

Bulgarian Ace Stoyanov, neglected by the communist regime, has lived and worked as a guide of tourists in the Rila Monastery for about 30 years...

That was more like a "house arrest" for him, not a very enviable situation.

Last Summer, I met in Sofia Stoyanov's son and he told me interesting stories about his father.

Maybe this was because Stoyanov do fights against "capitalist pigs", and not against "the mighty russian soldiers: uraaa!" ... and our pilots, do fights on both fronts.
