First of all, this is a wonderful and informative site! My name is Mark Schendel and I create and supply graphics for the Czech Republic website "Rank Insignia of the World". I am currently working on the rank and branch insignia of the Romanian armed forces of World War 2. Information can be hard to come by in the United States; I have several books but the information in many cases seems to be contradictory or incomplete. I was hoping that someone here can furnish either a text or visual answer to my questions.

      1. I have observed a photograph of King Michael and Ion Antonescu, King Michael is wearing a visor cap and the shoulder boards of a Maresal, Antonescu is wearing the capela field cap with rank braid chevrons on the front; 4 narrow over one medium and one wide chevron. My question is what would the rank chevrons of a Maresal look like? 2. In the Romanian air force there were 4 grades of warrant officers for flight personnel, shoulder straps edged in gold with 1 to 4 wings on them. My question were there 4 corresponding grades of ground or non flight status warrant officers with 1 to 4 gold chevrons? (books show only 1 warrant officer grade with3 chevrons). I can supply visual files of the artwork I have created in Coreldraw as JPGs if anyone needs to check the accuracy of my drawings. In any case this is a great site and I will visit here often. |
