No one can tell that . For an order , there were a limited number of members for each rank . This is not the same for the medals. So is practical impossible to determine how many medals were awarded.

Not exactly. Even the medals were awarded by Royal Decrees. So if you would go through the Royal Decrees from the time its was established to the time it was disbanded, you can determine the exact number of medals awarded. Of course, this would mean a lot of work. biggrin.gif

This is not true. For example in the late 1930s it was decreed that there could be an unlimited number of Knights of the Order of the Crown of Romania. On the other hand, the Navy Medal (later renamed the Navy Virtue Medal) instituted in the same period had a limited number of awards for the peacetime badges: 100 for first class, 300 for the second class and 1000 for the third class.

In general war badges were not limited in numbers.

Some further exceptions: in 1938 the Loyal Service Cross had a limited number of awards for all classes, while the Loyal Service Medal had a limited number of awards for the first and second class only.

The informations that you need are buried somewhere deep into the Romanian National Archives! Unfortunately the official research in the field of Romanian phaleristic doesn't exist !!! Maybe you can start a research in this domain and bring us out from this darkness !!! wink.gif
